Big Island Intimate Wedding Venues | Elopement Resources from a Hawaii Elopement Photographer

Hawaii Elopement Photographer, Two Tides Photography, Guide to Big Island Intimate Wedding Venues.

Finding a venue for your Big Island wedding can feel daunting, and a large, overpriced resort wedding is certainly not for everyone.

The good news?

Each Island offers a wide array of unique, quaint, and intimate wedding venues with views that will take your breath away!  To make your search easier, here is the list of my top favorite venues located on the Big Island of Hawaii!

Whether it’s just the two of you eloping, or you’re bringing along 100 of your closest friends and family members to celebrate with you on your wedding day, look no further than these incredible venues!

KONA | Big Island Intimate Wedding Venues

Holualoa Inn

Price: $-$$
Location: Kailua-Kona in a small community called Holualoa.
Vibe: Natural, Tropical, with stunning ocean views!

Holualoa Inn is at the top of my list because it is quite possibly my favorite venue on the Big Island. Care to know what I love about it as a Hawaii Elopement Photographer?  It’s privacy and beauty!

Although it’s a small hotel, the wedding venue is separate from other guests. That way, you don’t have to worry about onlookers on your wedding day.

For elopements, they offer various scenic locations around the property for your intimate ceremony.  For larger events (or small), Holualoa Inn boasts a stunning green lawn with a lovely covered area for receptions.  Picture your ceremony under a large shaded monkey pod tree while overlooking a stunning view of the pacific ocean!

Holualoa Inn is located a short 20-minute drive from the Kailua-Kona airport.

MY FAVORITE FEATURE: It’s Red Barn!  Holualoa Inn boasts of their Red Barn, a large private suite located next to the wedding venue sight with a kitchen and large lanai.  Recently remodeled with updated modern amenities, The Red Barn is perfect for bridal parties, and wedding nights, or if you’re eloping, book a private chef to prepare a meal for you to enjoy for your “reception.”

Hokukano Bay House

PRICE: $$
LOCATION: Kailua-Kona
VIBE: A large estate overlooking Keauhau Bay with lovely wood and modern details.

Hokukano Bay House is simply stunning.

The industrial-sized kitchen, large indoor/outdoor master suite, pool, and large yard make it perfect for larger weddings no doubt. But, the beautifully manicured yard with more intimate sections, ideal for small ceremonies, also makes it an excellent option for eloping.

If you and 12 or fewer of your closest friends and families are joining for your wedding day, consider staying at the bay house before and after your wedding. That way, your group can really enjoy the space.

The landscape is nothing short of a work of art. Plus, Keauhou Bay, great for paddleboarding and kayaking, is right in your backyard.

MY FAVORITE FEATURE:  The master suite!  This indoor/outdoor suite is complete with stunning craftsmanship and beautiful wood finishes. It’s truly an inspiring and peaceful space!  Not to mention the master bathroom is practically the size of my house!

Hale Wailele

PRICE: $$
LOCATION: Kailua-Kona, Big Island
VIBE: A private home with modern details, large ponds, palm trees, and a stunning ocean view

Hale Wailele is a private estate, located down a long tree-covered driveway. It is nestled into a remote corner of Kona.

The home has multiple private suites, a large kitchen, koi ponds galore, and a pool overlooking the Pacific.  Included is also a detached private suite, great for including extra guests.

Hale Wailele is located 25 minutes from the airport and a short drive to grocery stores and restaurants.

MY FAVORITE FEATURE: The Pool!  Not only a favorite spot for ceremonies but a luxurious spot to hang out with your friends and family before, after (or even during!), your wedding festivities.

WAIMEA | Big Island Intimate Wedding Venues

Anna’s Ranch

PRICE: $
LOCATION: Waimea, Big Island
VIBE:  A rustic property with beautifully manicured plants, flowers, and a white ranch house surrounded by the farmland and hills of Waimea.

We are taking a trip up North to the small ranching community of Waimea.

Located about 40 minutes North of the Kona airport, Waimea has cooler temperatures and depending on the time of year, some wind and rain.  Anna’s Ranch is a great alternative to the ocean and palm trees vibe.  If you’re looking for a Hawaii rustic/ranch feel, yes it exists!

Enjoy your ceremony on the lawn and celebrate after in the reception hall filled with so much character!

MY FAVORITE FEATURE: The grounds!  It’s so fun to walk around the property and look at all of the beautiful flowers.  The property was landscaped by the owners well into their old age.  You can get a sense of the deep love they have for the place.

Kahua Ranch

PRICE: $$
LOCATION: Waimea
VIBE: A beautiful rustic ranch with views of endless hills and ocean

Although this is a relatively large property that can accommodate larger weddings, its private location also makes for an intimate setting for smaller wedding celebrations.

Plus, you can’t beat the endless views of rolling hills and the vast pacific ocean!

MY FAVORITE FEATURE:  Did I mention the views?!  But seriously, they are insane!  I also love the small cottages throughout the property, available for you and your guests to stay in!  This allows for less time in the car and more time to connect with your friends and family.

HAWI | Big Island Intimate Wedding Venues

Puakea Ranch

PRICE: $$
LOCATION: Hawi
VIBES:  Small, rustic ranch complete with animals freely roaming the property!

Similar to Kahua Ranch, Puakea is a smaller but lovely ranch with beautiful cabins for lodging, an outdoor reception area, and various outdoor options for your ceremony.  The animals wandering the property make for such a fun feel.

The large trees all over the property add to the beauty and also provide nice shade for you and your guests.

My favorite feature–  The small and intimate reception area is perfect for smaller weddings!  I also love the pool, hidden in a corner of the property that makes for a great ceremony setting!
