Intimate Kailua – Kona Hawaii Elopement

OSCAR + TERESA’S INTIMATE KAILUA – KONA HAWAII ELOPEMENT WAS TRULY A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. WITH A PRIVATE WATERFALL, AN EPIC HELIFOPTER RIDE, AND AN ROMANTIC DINNER, THEY HAD A HAWAII ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME.

Hawaii Elopement

I’m so stoked to share this wonderful Hawaii elopement with you!

The story begins 3 years ago, when Oscar proposed to Teresa on the Big Island of Hawaii.  It was their dream to have a Hawaii Elopement.  But this didn’t seem possible as it went against family tradition.  When they were first engaged, Teresa asked her mom what she remembered most about her wedding day.

Her mom replied, “The only thing I remember is how stressed out I was.”

This, therefore, solidified Teresa and Oscar, their decision to elope!

Next, began the planning process.  For their elopement, Oscar and Teresa wanted to do something different.  They loved the idea of hiking into a waterfall.  But why hike into a waterfall when you can fly into one?!  At least, that’s what Oscar said when he called to tell me he hired a private helicopter to fly us into a waterfall.

The Beginning of This Magical Kailua – Kona Hawaii Elopement

I joined them at their hotel, The Fairmont Orchid, where I captured their “first look” down on the beach.  From there, we drove a short distance to the helicopter location.

We were greeted by our pilot, who was incredibly nice.  He set everyone at ease, cracked jokes, and picked, what he thought, was the best spot for Oscar and Teresa’s Hawaii Elopement.

The helicopter ride was so beautiful.  The pilot shared tons of facts and history about the Big Island throughout the flight.  We were utterly blown away when we arrived at the waterfall (which can only be accessed by air or sea).  Words can’t describe how beautiful the location was.

Their ceremony was so wonderfully intimate. Their officiant, Michaela, performed a beautiful traditional Hawaiian ceremony.  For Oscar and Teresa, adding in these local traditions for the ceremony was important!

After the ceremony, the two of them celebrated with a glass of champagne, captured some lovely photos of them at the waterfall, and then hopped back on the helicopter for the trip back.

Lastly, we went back to the Fairmont Orchid, where Oscar and Teresa privately shared their vows on the beach.  Then, to end the day, a private and intimate oceanfront dinner waited for them back at the hotel.
